A Museum Experience That Brings History to Life

Housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century seminary, the museum offers more than just a viewing of the tapestry. Visitors enjoy a multimedia introduction, an audio guide in multiple languages, and thematic exhibits that provide context on the political intrigue, artistic techniques, and daily life of the 11th century. The museum also features temporary exhibitions and educational activities, making it ideal for families, students, and curious travelers alike.
Schedules and Prices

The Bayeux Tapestry Museum is open seven days a week and welcomes visitors of all abilities, with wheelchair access and loan available upon request. Please note that pets are not allowed. Opening hours vary by season: from March to October, the museum is open from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM (until 7:00 PM from May to August); from November to February, it opens from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Last admission is 45 minutes before closing. The museum is closed on the afternoons of December 24 and 31, all day on December 25, and during the entire month of January. Exceptional closures are also planned from March 31 to April 2, 2025, and from September 1, 2025, for major renovation works. The museum is scheduled to reopen in October 2027, but please note that the Tapestry will not be visible during this period. Tickets are sold exclusively on-site, with no advance reservations required, and can be purchased using various payment methods, including credit cards, cash, bank cheques, and holiday vouchers. Admission fees are €12 for full price, €7.50 for reduced rate (large families, jobseekers, GIC-GIG cardholders), and €5 for schoolchildren and students. Children under 10 enter free of charge. An audio guide in 16 languages, including a junior version in French and English, is included with each ticket. Group rates are available, with free entry for some accompanying adults and off-season benefits for Calvados-based schools.
